Thistle and Bumblebee

Here are some photos of a Thistle in bloom.

Below are some with a visiting Bumblebee.  Unfortunately I couldn’t get any shots with a better view of the Bumblebee.  Which is a shame because they would have been interesting.  He was carrying so much pollen on his legs, it’s amazing he was even able to get airborne.  But with the wind whipping everything around like it was on Monday, it’s a miracle I got any photos at all.  These blooms were swaying all over the place when I took these.

  1. I love your thistles! I think they are one of the prettiest flowers in the wild. I usually have just one that grows in an area next to our garage, but the one coming up this year, died before it flowered. I’m always amazed that bumblebees can fly with all that pollen they carry…they look so funny sometimes with their fat yellow legs 🙂
